Freepik/Flaticon content backoffice

Internal suite for Freepik/Flaticon content operations: review, cataloguing, moderation and publishing; production; icon packs; contributor tax and productivity extensions.

Context

Behind a catalogue of millions of graphic resources is a production line: thousands of contributors upload content that needs reviewing, cataloguing, moderating and publishing, alongside an internal content-production operation. The Freepik/Flaticon content backoffice is that collection of internal systems, and this project covers the full-stack work across its constituent parts.

Review, cataloguing and publishing

At the heart of the backoffice are the tools the content team uses to review incoming resources, catalogue their metadata, tags and categories, moderate anything that does not meet the guidelines, and publish approved work. Two generations coexist: a legacy admin and its Laravel + Nova successor. Part of the work was moving flows to the newer system without stopping the operation.

Content-production workflow

In-house production—illustration, vector, PSD, 3D and, more recently, AI-generated content—is organised as a task workflow. Assignments move through allocation, production, review and delivery, with rules for each content type encoded in the system. The goal is measurable, plannable capacity rather than an opaque queue.

Flaticon icon packs

Flaticon icons do not live in isolation: they are grouped into coherent packs with a shared style and family. Pack composition, consistency, versioning and publishing have their own tool within the backoffice.

Contributor tax portal

Contributors are paid for their content, which requires correct tax paperwork. The portal lets them manage their tax details and documents, with validation that catches mistakes before they reach billing.

Internal Chrome extensions

Productivity tools for internal teams packaged as Chrome extensions: shortcuts over backoffice screens that remove repetitive steps from everyday review flows.
